When do you plant seeds?

With this wonderful weather today I am happily reminded of gardening again.
Last spring I seed saved from purple tomatoes I grew. I'm ready to plant the seeds and begin the wonderful growing process again. The question is....when is the right time to plant seeds?

Green Tomatoes

What a summer of tomatoes I had! wow I enjoyed walking outside to the garden each morning and picking a wonderfully ripe tomato. I even made a few batches of ketchup and tomato sauce with them. My only worry is that I'm not quite sure how I will repeat my tomato success next year. Was it just a great summer for tomatoes?

After picking about 10 pounds of half ripe/green tomatoes (the last for this year) I wondered about how to use green tomatoes. Does anyone have any green tomato recipe ideas?

Pulled out the vest

As Tristan and I walked around the apple orchard today I noticed most women were wearing their puffy fall vests (me included). It seems that the puffy vest is one of the first signs of fall.

Running in New York

I haven't qualified for the New York Marathon (In fact, I can't say I've completed a marathon yet) but I did enjoy running in central park. This is as close as I can get to the NY marathon.

I couldn't believe how peaceful it was to run in the middle of a major city.

How to spend the summer....

So all of these photos may not be from this summer (the centurion was last year) but you get the idea....I've been on my bike.

Whippets in the Garden

My two little helpers....really aren't very helpful in the garden. They prefer to lounge around...

The beginning of my garden

Last year I joined the Carrville Community Garden to learn about organic gardening. http://www.carrvillecommunitygarden.com
I really loved the experience, but found I didn't have as much time as I had hoped to participate. So, this year I decided I would plant my own little garden mixed in with the flowers in the backyard. This photo is from early June (After I thought I won the war against the slugs eating everything). You will see the tomato plants, snap peas, pole beans, and a few carrots and yellow beets are growing between the little wooden fence.
